Citizens Urged to Send Handmade Rakhis, Messages and Sacred Soil by July 30 as State Seeks to Turn Campaign into a Mass Movement
TFP Bureau, Raipur, July 26, 2026: The Chhattisgarh Government has launched ‘Operation Sipahi Raksha-Sutra Abhiyan-2026’ to express gratitude, respect and solidarity with the country’s armed forces on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. Women and Child Development Minister Lakshmi Rajwade has appealed to mothers, sisters and children across the state to actively participate in the campaign by sending handmade rakhis, heartfelt messages and sacred soil from their homes to soldiers guarding the nation’s borders.
Describing Raksha Bandhan as a symbol of trust, protection and emotional bonding, the Minister said the campaign aims to convey the affection and blessings of the people of Chhattisgarh to the brave soldiers serving under challenging conditions. She said every citizen has a moral responsibility to honour the courage, dedication and sacrifice of the armed forces who safeguard the country’s sovereignty. Click here 👇
As part of the initiative, participants have been requested to prepare handmade rakhis, write messages of appreciation and include a small pinch of sacred soil from their courtyard in the envelope. The soil, intended for a ceremonial ‘Vijay Tilak’, will symbolize the blessings of the motherland and the heartfelt emotions of the people of Chhattisgarh.
The Minister informed that all envelopes containing handmade rakhis, greeting messages and sacred soil should be submitted by July 30, 2026, at the nearest Anganwadi centre or the Women and Child Development Department’s project office. The collected Raksha-Sutras will be forwarded to the Army Headquarters in New Delhi through the Ex-Servicemen’s Association, from where they will be distributed to soldiers deployed across different parts of the country.
Calling upon citizens to make the campaign a people’s movement, Rajwade said the initiative would send a strong message that the people of Chhattisgarh stand firmly with the nation’s soldiers and deeply value their service, courage and commitment to protecting the country.
