BALCO Driving All-Round Development of Korba Region: Lakhan Lal Dewangan

Over 85 infrastructure projects completed in three years, benefiting more than 20,600 people across 20 villages

TFP Bureau, Korba, August 9, 2026: Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO) has intensified its efforts towards the development of local communities by undertaking infrastructure projects aimed at improving public amenities and quality of life in the Korba region.

A Bhoomi Pujan ceremony was held for the construction of a community centre at Ayodhyapuri in the presence of Chhattisgarh Commerce and Industry, Public Sector Undertakings, Commercial Tax (Excise) and Labour Minister Lakhan Lal Dewangan, Councilor Saroj Shandilya, BALCO Head of Corporate Affairs and Administration Captain Dhananjay Mishra, local public representatives and citizens.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dewangan appreciated BALCO’s contribution to regional development and said the company was going beyond industrial production to fulfil its social responsibilities.

“BALCO is not limited to industrial production alone; it is also fulfilling its social responsibilities with full commitment,” he said, adding that community centres would provide local residents with spaces for social gatherings and discussions on community development.

The minister highlighted BALCO’s initiatives in education, women’s empowerment, healthcare and road construction and widening, saying that the collaboration between industry and society was giving fresh momentum to the development of Korba.

BALCO CEO and Whole-time Director Rajesh Singh said the company remained committed to supporting community development in areas including healthcare, education, livelihoods and infrastructure.

“Through community centres and other public amenities, we remain committed to providing better facilities to the people, fostering social cohesion and contributing to the overall development of society,” Singh said.

Under its infrastructure development programme, BALCO has completed more than 85 projects over the past three years. These include construction and improvement of roads and community centres, renovation of children’s parks, Anganwadi centres and government schools, among other public facilities.

The projects have benefited more than 20,600 people across 20 villages, according to the company.

BALCO has also undertaken several infrastructure initiatives in recent months. These include the construction of the Nehru Nagar Community Centre, Jubilee Park at the Civic Centre and a park at Parsabhatha.

The company said such initiatives are aimed at strengthening essential public infrastructure, creating better community spaces and supporting the overall socio-economic development of people living in areas surrounding its operations.
