Veer Bal Rally Rekindles Spirit of Courage and Sacrifice in Raipur

TFP Bureau, Raipur, December 20, 2025: The indomitable courage, unwavering faith and supreme sacrifice of the Sahibzadas of Guru Gobind Singh Ji continue to be a timeless source of inspiration for the nation, Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai said on Saturday while participating in the Veer Bal Rally organised by the Chhattisgarh State Minority Commission in the state capital.

Flagging off the rally from Marine Drive, Raipur, the Chief Minister said that the example of valour and glory set by Baba Zorawar Singh Ji and Baba Fateh Singh Ji at such a tender age would continue to inspire generations to come. More than 5,000 school students, along with Scouts and Guides and NCC cadets, participated in the historic rally, which featured vibrant cultural performances, adventurous Gatka demonstrations and grand tableaux depicting the rich martial and spiritual traditions of Sikhism.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Sai recalled that December 26 is observed as Veer Bal Diwas to commemorate the martyrdom of the Sahibzadas, the younger sons of the Tenth Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh Ji. He said the supreme sacrifice made by the Sahibzadas at the ages of just nine and seven stands unmatched in human history. “Even at such a young age, they did not bow before tyranny, did not abandon their faith, and chose martyrdom to protect truth and righteousness,” the Chief Minister said.

He emphasised that the Sahibzadas’ sacrifice transcends religion and community and serves as a beacon of courage, resilience and moral strength for all humanity. “This glorious legacy of Sikhism is a matter of pride for the entire nation. It is our moral duty to introduce the new generation to this inspiring history of sacrifice, duty and devotion,” Shri Sai said.

The Chief Minister lauded Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s initiative to observe Veer Bal Diwas at the national level since 2022, calling it a visionary step that has strengthened the spirit of bravery, patriotism and self-belief among children and youth across the country. He said that the life and teachings of Guru Gobind Singh Ji continue to guide India’s moral and cultural compass.

Recalling the Guru’s powerful proclamation—“I will make one fight against a lakh and a quarter, I will make sparrows fight against hawks; only then will I be called Guru Gobind Singh”—the Chief Minister said these words still ignite courage and determination in every Indian. “They teach us that it is not resources or numbers, but courage, conviction and righteousness that lead to victory,” he added.

Cabinet Minister Shri Khushwant Saheb, addressing the rally, said the martyrdom of the Sahibzadas teaches the values of fearlessness, integrity and putting the nation above self. “Their lives are a guiding light for every generation and remind us of the true meaning of sacrifice,” he said.

Chairman of the Chhattisgarh State Minority Commission, Shri Amarjeet Chhabra, highlighted the historical events surrounding the martyrdom of the Sahibzadas and said such programmes play a crucial role in connecting young minds with India’s rich and inspiring heritage.

The event witnessed the presence of Raipur North MLA Shri Purandar Mishra, CREDA Chairman Shri Bhupendra Savani, CGMSC Chairman Shri Deepak Mhaske, Chhattisgarh State Child Protection Commission Chairperson Dr. Varnika Sharma, senior representatives of the Sikh community, social workers and office bearers of various social organisations.

The Veer Bal Rally concluded amid patriotic fervour, leaving a strong message of courage, sacrifice and moral strength, while reaffirming the commitment to pass on the legacy of the Sahibzadas to future generations.
