Chhattisgarh Proposes Monthly Honorarium of ₹30,870 for Home Guards

Proposed increase to benefit around 7,900 personnel; revised amount includes 58% dearness allowance and uniform-washing allowance

TFP Bureau, Raipur, October 22, 2026: The Chhattisgarh government has proposed increasing the monthly honorarium of Home Guards to ₹30,870, providing a financial boost to approximately 7,900 personnel serving across the state.

The proposal has been prepared by the Home Department under the directions of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and the guidance of Home Minister Vijay Sharma. The revised amount is equivalent to ₹1,029 per day and is intended to recognise the contribution of Home Guards to law enforcement support, firefighting, disaster management and other essential services.

Revised honorarium structure

Under the proposed structure, the monthly payment will comprise a basic honorarium of ₹19,500, dearness allowance of ₹11,310 at the rate of 58%, and a uniform-washing allowance of ₹60.

This will bring the total monthly honorarium to ₹30,870, according to the proposal.

Home Guards, also known as Nagar Sainiks, assist the administration and security agencies in maintaining public order and responding to emergencies.

Earlier revisions in 2017 and 2023

The honorarium has been revised in stages over the years. In 2017, the monthly amount was increased by ₹3,200, from ₹10,000 to ₹13,200. A further increase of ₹6,300 took effect on April 1, 2023, raising the monthly honorarium to ₹19,500.

The latest proposal takes into account rising living costs, court directives and the role played by Home Guards in maintaining law and order, managing disasters and supporting other essential services.

Government aims to boost morale

The proposed increase is expected to provide additional financial support to Home Guards and their families while strengthening personnel morale and commitment to duty.

Home Guards have expressed gratitude to Home Minister Vijay Sharma for the initiative taken under Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai’s directions.

The revised amount has been announced as a proposal; its implementation will depend on the applicable government approval and order.
