India’s First AI SEZ to Rise in Chhattisgarh’s Nava Raipur

TFP Bureau, Raipur, May 27, 2025: In a historic leap toward becoming a digital powerhouse, India’s first Artificial Intelligence-focused Special Economic Zone (AI SEZ) will soon be established in Nava Raipur, Chhattisgarh. The ambitious ₹1000 crore project, led by Rackbank Data Centers Pvt. Ltd., marks a major milestone in India’s technological journey and is expected to transform Nava Raipur into a leading digital innovation hub.

Spread across 6 acres, the AI SEZ will house a 1.5 lakh square feet data center powered by advanced computing systems designed to support AI-driven services and digital infrastructure. With plans for four high-density data centers with a total 80 MW capacity, the zone will cater to India’s growing demand for AI computation, cloud storage, cybersecurity, and enterprise data management.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai hailed the project as a landmark for the state and a key part of his “Nava Chhattisgarh” vision. “This initiative will not only bring high-tech investment to Chhattisgarh but also create a wave of new employment opportunities for our youth. It represents our commitment to Make in India and Digital India,” he said.

The AI SEZ will offer companies—both Indian and global—tax incentives and regulatory support to accelerate the development of next-generation technologies. Digital operations for global giants like Google, OpenAI, Microsoft, and Meta are expected to run from this hub, making India not just a consumer but a producer and host of core AI infrastructure.

Rackbank CEO Narendra Sen announced that the project will generate demand for IT engineers, data analysts, cybersecurity experts, and network managers. The company also plans to collaborate with local ITIs, engineering colleges, and polytechnic institutes to run industry-aligned training programs, ensuring Chhattisgarh’s youth are skilled for AI-era jobs.

“This SEZ will bridge the digital divide,” Sen noted. “Students from places like Kanker, Sukma, Bilaspur, and Dantewada will be able to work with top global companies without having to migrate to metro cities or abroad.”

Significantly, the data center will follow global green building standards—utilizing solar power, energy-efficient systems, and water conservation methods—underscoring Chhattisgarh’s focus on sustainable development.

Once operational, the Nava Raipur AI SEZ is expected to redefine India’s role in the global AI landscape, positioning Chhattisgarh as a nerve center for innovation, talent, and technology.
