Dharmendra Pradhan Urges IIT Delhi Students to Lead Innovation for Self-Reliant India

TFP Bureau, New Delhi, August 17, 2025 – Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan visited the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi today and called upon the country’s youth to take the lead in innovation and research to achieve the vision of a self-reliant India. Addressing undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral students, innovators, and researchers, he said India’s present moment offers a unique opportunity to channel collective energy toward national priorities and build a prosperous nation by 2047.

During his interaction, Pradhan encouraged students to dream big, share their ideas fearlessly, and pursue technological challenges with determination. He assured them that the government stands firmly alongside innovators and researchers in their quest to create solutions that will strengthen India’s global standing. “The talent, tenacity, and resolve of our youth, coupled with the spirit of self-reliance, will pave the way for technological and economic sovereignty,” he said.

Pradhan highlighted the crucial role of IITs as the bedrock of India’s innovation ecosystem, adding that with strong support from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the nation’s Yuva Shakti will redefine technology, entrepreneurship, and innovation. He stressed that this energy will ultimately shape a Samridhh and Atmanirbhar Bharat.

The Minister also took keen interest in students’ aspirations, ongoing research, and innovative projects, noting that their creativity would be instrumental in addressing both domestic and global challenges. He promised to revisit IIT Delhi in the near future to review the progress of innovations currently underway.

Speaking on the occasion, Secretary of Higher Education Dr. Vineet Joshi reiterated the Prime Minister’s Independence Day message on the pivotal role of youth in building a self-reliant India. He emphasized that the government is extending comprehensive support to higher education institutions to advance innovation, strengthen research capacity, and develop technologies aligned with national interests.

Dr. Joshi expressed confidence that IIT Delhi, with its strong academic base and vibrant student community, will continue to pioneer solutions of global relevance, reinforcing India’s position as a hub of innovation and progress.

Pradhan concluded by urging students to “keep hustling” until India achieves complete self-reliance across sectors. He said their innovative spirit will not only shape a brighter future for coming generations but also establish India as a global hub of sustainable and scalable solutions.
