TFP Bureau, Raipur, August 20, 2025: A new chapter in tribal research has begun in Chhattisgarh with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Guru Ghasidas Central University, Bilaspur, and the Tribal Research and Knowledge Center (TRKC), New Delhi. The agreement will pave the way for high-level research on the cultural, social, and economic dimensions of the state’s tribal communities, particularly those in Bastar and Surguja.
The MoU was signed by University Registrar Prof. Abhay S. Randive and TRKC’s Chhattisgarh in-charge Rajiv Sharma. The three-year collaboration will focus on field studies, cultural documentation, and social research to highlight the heritage and contemporary issues of tribal communities.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Alok Kumar Chakrawal, former Saurashtra University Vice Chancellor Prof. Neelambar Dave, Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram’s All India Youth Action Leader Vaibhav Surange, along with professors, researchers, and students, were present during the signing ceremony.
Rajiv Sharma said the collaboration would accelerate research on Chhattisgarh’s tribes and shed light on their untouched aspects of civilization, culture, social organization, governance, rural entrepreneurship, and sustainable development. “This initiative will not only benefit academic research but also help tribal youth connect with their glorious past,” he added.
Prof. Randive stated that the MoU will lead to joint research projects, field-based case studies, training programs, leadership workshops, and certificate courses. Guidance sessions on social-impact startups, awareness drives, and academic seminars will also be organized to broaden participation and reach.
The university announced that findings will be published through libraries, research journals, and databases, making them accessible to both scholars and the public. Experts believe the initiative will enrich academic curricula and help tribal communities preserve their identity while integrating knowledge into future development.
