TFP Bureau, Korba, April 6, 2025: Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO) was recognized for its continued commitment to community development during the inauguration of a newly constructed community building in Songuda Panchayat and a culvert bridge in Belakachhar. The event was attended by Shri Lakhan Lal Devangan, Commerce, Industry, and Labour Minister of Chhattisgarh, along with Shri Rajesh Kumar, CEO and Director of BALCO, and other local officials.

In his remarks, Minister Lakhan Lal Devangan praised BALCO’s efforts to improve rural infrastructure and enhance the quality of life for local communities. “BALCO is playing a key role in the welfare of the community alongside its industrial development initiatives,” Devangan said. “These projects— the community building and the bridge—reflect the company’s commitment to social upliftment through its CSR activities.”

The newly completed box culvert bridge in Belakachhar is expected to benefit over 2,000 residents across multiple villages, including Belakachhar, Dondro, Kailash Nagar, and Sangam Nagar. The bridge will provide much-needed access, particularly during the monsoon season, easing transportation challenges. In addition, the community building in Songuda will serve as a hub for social events, cultural programs, and public meetings, benefiting more than 1,000 people in the region.

Rajesh Kumar, CEO of BALCO, reiterated the company’s core philosophy of giving back to society. “The creation of such infrastructure is part of our ongoing efforts to improve the socio-economic conditions of rural residents,” Kumar stated. “We are committed to building a brighter future with the help of the community and government, working in partnership to promote sustainable development.”

BALCO’s CSR efforts over the past two years have seen the construction of over 80 essential structures, including roads, community buildings, children’s parks, Anganwadi centers, and renovations of government schools. These initiatives have benefitted more than 14,000 people across 45 villages. With a strong focus on infrastructure and inclusive development, BALCO continues to invest in the long-term welfare of the region.
