Scheme guarantees 125 days of employment, higher wages and greater focus on village infrastructure and livelihoods
TFP Bureau, Raipur, July 1,2026: The ‘Viksit Bharat G-Ram-G’ (VBGRAM-G) campaign was launched in Sukma district on Tuesday, marking a significant step towards strengthening rural development, enhancing livelihoods and creating self-reliant villages across the region.
The launch programme, held at the Shabari Auditorium, witnessed enthusiastic participation from sarpanchs, public representatives and government officials. The initiative is being implemented under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai with the objective of transforming villages into engines of inclusive growth under the vision of “Viksit Gaon Se Viksit Bharat” (Developed Village to Developed India).
The programme was organised under the guidance of Collector Amit Kumar and District Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Mukund Thakur, who highlighted the scheme’s role in accelerating the holistic development of rural areas.
Officials informed participants that the new scheme increases the guaranteed employment period for eligible rural families from 100 days to 125 days annually. It also provides for an unemployment allowance in cases where work cannot be offered within the stipulated period.
In a major relief for rural workers, the daily wage under the programme has been enhanced from ₹262 to ₹300, a move expected to improve household incomes and strengthen rural livelihoods.
The campaign places special emphasis on water conservation and augmentation, rural infrastructure development, flood management, sustainable livelihood generation and other community-oriented works. Officials said transparency, accountability and technology-driven implementation would be key features of the programme.
Speakers at the event stressed that Gram Panchayats would play a pivotal role in planning and implementing development projects, with active community participation forming the foundation of the scheme’s success.
A district-level programme to mark the formal rollout of the VBGRAM-G scheme will be held in Sukma on July 2, coinciding with the state-level launch. Officials said the initiative is expected to provide fresh momentum to employment generation, rural infrastructure creation and sustainable development while strengthening the vision of self-reliant villages across Chhattisgarh.
