Over 150 students participate in poster exhibition and presentation competition; scientists highlight India’s achievements and satellite technology’s potential for Chhattisgarh
TFP Bureau, Raipur, August 23, 2026: More than 150 students participated in a series of science-focused activities organised at the Chhattisgarh Regional Science Centre, Raipur, on Saturday to mark National Space Day 2026.
The programme, held under the guidance of Principal Secretary Sonmoni Borah, aimed to promote curiosity about space science, scientific thinking and creativity among students and young people. The event also provided participants an opportunity to learn about India’s achievements in space exploration and the future possibilities emerging in science and technology.
Scientists Share Insights into India’s Space Programme
Scientists and experts, including Milind Chadokar of ISRO’s National Remote Sensing Centre and the Regional Science Centre, Nagpur; M.K. Beg, Scientist-E, Chhattisgarh Council of Science and Technology; and Prashant Kavishwar, Director General, Chhattisgarh Regional Science Centre and Chhattisgarh Council of Science and Technology, interacted with students during the programme.
Kavishwar urged students to cultivate a scientific mindset, remain curious and pursue innovation. He also highlighted major milestones of India’s space programme, including the Chandrayaan missions.
Lecture on India’s Space Journey
Chadokar delivered a presentation on “India’s Space Programme: Past, Present and Future”, covering the evolution of the country’s space programme, major achievements and future prospects.
The session encouraged students to learn more about India’s growing capabilities in space exploration and consider careers in space science and research.
Satellite Technology and Chhattisgarh’s Development
M.K. Beg spoke on “Application of Satellite Technology for the Development of Chhattisgarh”, explaining how satellite-based technologies can contribute to the state’s development.
Students were introduced to applications of space technology in agriculture, natural resource management, environmental conservation and other development activities. The session highlighted the potential of satellite technology to support evidence-based planning and improve public services.
Poster Competition Highlights India’s Space Journey
A poster exhibition and presentation competition was organised on the theme “India’s Space Journey: From Thumba to the Moon and Beyond.”
Students presented their ideas on India’s achievements in space exploration, future missions and the role of space science in sustainable development.
The judging panel comprised Dr Tribhuvan Singh, Amit Kumar Meshram and Dr Amit Ram of the Chhattisgarh Council of Science and Technology. Entries were assessed on content, scientific approach, creativity and presentation.
Students Honoured for Outstanding Presentations
Neha Kosle of B.P. Pujari Government English Medium School secured the first position, while Sneha Pandey of Savitribai Phule Educational Academy and Savita Chakradhari of Pt. Girija Shankar Mishra School secured the second and third positions, respectively.
Leena Sahu, David Chalak and Yashika Verma were also honoured for their participation and presentations. The outstanding students received certificates and prizes during the programme.
Over 150 Students Participate
Students from various schools participated enthusiastically in the National Space Day celebrations. Through posters and presentations, they explored India’s space achievements, future missions and the wider significance of space technology.
The programme sought to encourage students to view space science not merely as an academic subject but as an important area of innovation with applications in society, environmental management and economic development.
