Chhattisgarh Tourism Makes Strong Impact at Kolkata Travel Fair

TFP Bureau, Raipur, July 10, 2025: Chhattisgarh Tourism Board showcased the state’s unique cultural and natural wealth with an impressive presence at the ongoing Travel and Tourism Fair (TTF) in Kolkata. This effort is part of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai’s vision to boost tourism in the state by reaching out to key markets.

Chhattisgarh Tourism Board Chairman Shri Neelu Sharma actively engaged with Kolkata-based tour operators and travel agents, inviting them to include Chhattisgarh in their travel packages. Sharing the stage with Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Shri Omar Abdullah, Sharma highlighted Chhattisgarh’s offerings—ranging from the majestic Chitrakote waterfall and Kanger Valley National Park to historic sites like Sirpur and tribal destinations such as Dhudmaras in Bastar. Spiritual sites including Bhoramdev, Dongargarh, and Dantewada also featured prominently in his presentation.

Sharma emphasized that Chhattisgarh, often referred to as “Unseen India,” holds immense potential with its blend of natural beauty, tribal traditions, and spiritual heritage. “Tourism in Chhattisgarh now holds the status of an industry,” he said, noting several government initiatives promoting homestays, resorts, tribal tourism, and wellness travel. The state’s aim extends beyond tourism promotion to fostering cultural exchange and sustainable development.

A key highlight was the announcement of a permanent Chhattisgarh Tourism information center in Kolkata to provide convenient support and services to local tour operators and tourists. Around 50 Kolkata-based travel professionals registered at the event, signaling strong interest.

Managing Director of Chhattisgarh Tourism Board, Mr. Vivek Acharya, delivered a detailed presentation outlining the state’s tourism potential and government policies supporting the sector’s growth.

Chairman Neelu Sharma told the media, “To understand India, it is important to know Chhattisgarh. I invite everyone to come, experience, and meet the soul of India here.”

The event was attended by over 500 members of the West Bengal Tour Operator and Travel Agent Association, along with dignitaries including Sikkim Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker Mrs. Rajkumari Thapa, Chief Minister’s Advisor Mr. Nasir Aslam Wani, and Thailand’s Consul General Ms. Sripon Tantipanyathep.

This strong showing at the Kolkata fair marks a significant step in positioning Chhattisgarh as a must-visit destination on India’s tourism map.
